Haçienda @ WHP2017

Manchester Weekly finished off their year with a HUGE acid house line up, as The Haçienda became reborn again for a night with Dany Tenaglia, Todd Terry, A Guy Called Gerald, Peter Hook and more!

We started things off in Room 3, where a packed out crowd were desperate to catch a glimpse of former Joy Division and New Order member Peter Hook take a turn on the tables. With a set full of surprises (apparently Hooky is a fan of Example, dropping Kickstarts early on in his set), he kept things simple with a flurry of tunes from the modern day, before settling into 90s classics. Not too many deep cuts here, and certainly not a mixing masterclass, but dropping Born Slippy even got the security guards cutting shapes in the middle of the action.

Over to the main room then, where a crowd who are keen to relive the golden summer of love '88 are prepped ready for legendary Brooklyn DJ Todd Terry. In a set that lasts just under 2 hours, he packs in a selection of some of the biggest 90's tunes with his signature break-beat cutting. With some of the cleanest mixes to have grazed the huge sound system that Warehouse Project has brought to Store Street this year, Todd Terry has truly proven why he is one of the greats. Lending over to Danny Tenaglia to see out the room until 5am, Manchester Weekly check out honorary Mancunian A Guy Called Gerald in Room 2, where classic track Voodoo Ray gets the huge reception it deserves.

All in all, an incredible night, and what a way to end the season for MW.
